yafaray tests

Render time 1hr, photon mapping
scene from yafaray demo files, see www.yafaray.org

There are some artifacts above the middle arch…

I hope they start working on Yafaray more in the near future. It’s my favorite renderer. Know of any news on the project?

Yes, The Bounty renderer, fork of Yafaray. Currently it has added sss, material load/save presets and render settings save/load.
https://github.com/TheBounty.
Povmaniac is active with it.

Still a WIP for an animation: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/81075043/HD%20%20e%206%20%20.04%20%20%2035MM%20%20.png

Some of you are getting some really nice render times. I recently did the thermal paste thing on my CPU and thought damn it would be nice to be dropping a upgrade into here. But, then a Blenderhead would be thinking that regardless of what they had.

Since most of my time is involved in a animation project I rarely compose a still anymore and it shows. But, I have to admit the attempt was fun since stills take you back to basics.

PaulTron are you by any chance using 2.70 because I’ve had some unusual behavior attempting to use YafaRay and 2.70. As if after several renders the file becomes contaminated or something. Damn glad I renamed a file before taking it into 2.70.

Also I have a question for you guys. If I understand it right SPPM is unbiased like Cycles and Photon Mapping is biased. Because in my high contrast scene Photon Mapping simply looks better to me. By the way yes my gallery is huge made even bigger by the default 35mm lens. But, in our world what is money. I can throw millions around like the Koch brothers. I’d like to keep this thread alive.

Oh and for any you animating you might try cutting the Caustic Radius down from the default 1. I picked up 21 seconds a frame with this setting.
