Iron Man Model, and some test renders.

newb question alert!

How do you cut/make complete perfect circles in cube meshes or any mesh for that matter. I noticed a good deal of perfect circles along with the cube meshes…

From what I was able to find your looking at anywhere between 80 to up to 200 bucks, depending on where you get it. I do know that Amazon had it listed for 79.99 but there …

Basically I use the “snap cursor to selected” function on the area i want to add a hole, so add a circle of eight sides, (that when I have space between 4 faces) making sure the view is aligned above the surface,(otherwise the circle will not appear where you want) and delete these four faces, position the circle at the center of them and create another faces around the circle.
when I have not space to do this, i extrude the face and press “Esc” key, scale down the new face, rotate a little bit and delete it, with the Subdivision Surface modifier activated that face will be look like a circle, not a perfect circle, but fine for most cases.

Sorry my crap English. :frowning:

Awesome!!! Congrats!!!

hey nice work didi u use blender internal or another renderer in 2.54?

I exported the model in obj file and render in another program called Keyshot 2 on another computer. The configuration of the renderer is pretty basic, I was just testing the materials.
It shows everything in real time so it was easier and faster to see the final result. The first image took about 2 minutes for rendering
But the final scene, I’m still doing, I’ll try to render in BI.

My first attempt at rendering in blender internal. Post processing in photoshop.

The reflections need some tweaks.

u noe, the blender render looks very good aswell, it has a stylish cartoony-realism to it, if that makes sense

I just want to know how long did it take you and what time scale

James and Luke

Ooops, totally noobed it. Responded only after reading first page. Hehe

I’m really interested in rigging the model, you can send it to me privately or whatever if you want

Hello, Ikari!
Your modelling skills are impressing!
I know, maybe it’s a bit late, but here
http://www.the-blueprints.com/blueprints/humans/humans/24723/view/iron_man_2008_mark_ii/
you can get the most properly looking references for Iron Man markII.

I noticed that your model’s face is still a bit rounded near a “nose zone” and “cheeks” too.

Oh, thanks for the tip, now I realize that some parts of the helmet is too round, and I made some changes.

I’ll post later

[EDIT]

Here is the final render in blender 2.5 internal + PS for compositing.

need some gamma correction and lighting improve, I’ll fix later

Appears you’ve put a lot of work into this. Can you share the blend file? got something to trade, it’s a lot more useful than you might ever imagine. That is if you might ever consider making something non-virtual.

HOW THE HELL DO YOU DO THIS?!?!?!? It’s amazing! It’s very realistic.

Nice Work.

Very impressive .
Superb work !

Awesome model, looks realistic too. Its great to have people that are able to prove that blender has the capabilities of expensive 3d softwares.

Great model, and great lighting and rendering. Can i see the arm reflecting in the torso?

Are you going to rig it? If so, i guess you will have to redesign some of the joints. Some of them doesnt seem to give enough space to rotate.

nice nice work gendo! is the model fully rigged? would be really nice to see some good animation!

OT: gendo are you italian? were you by any chance on tgmonline starwars forum?
