A bit of a warmup excercise for Blending life. I studied Maqs’ amazing three layer SSS shader and made my own version. It’s not 100% yet but worth a little test. The bump map is a little heavy still and there’s no Epidermal or Specular maps yet, which should ,make a big difference, but that will wait till I have started on the model (this is just an old one I had).

Tree stump is quite natural looking, but it looks like you have some intersecting faces (multiple objects?)

@blenditall - yes the roots are made from separate objects. However I smoothed the joins out a bit in the end, plus with softer light the join isn’t noticable.

Random bit of modelling. I felt like I hadn’t done any hard surface stuff in a while so I made a Star Wars speeder bike. Still WIP at the moment. Just wanted to share.

Sweet Jesus. Great work throughout this thread. That speeder bike is top notch. Really great modeling.

A quick test for a kind of particle disintegration type effect. I’ve been wondering for a while how best to do this, and I finally came up with a decent system using two particle systems, one emmitter and a reactor. I’ll post details later but here’s a vid for now (Click for YouTube Link)

My daughter went to the aquarium today… apparently sea turtles hardly sleep… except for the one in the torquay aquarium: apparently it’s on some drugs to stop extreme allergic reactions…

anyway, all the fish and sharks were going about their business whilst the turtle slept… then suddenly, as one, they all got skittish and darted away… the turtle flapped his flippers once and rose up from the sandy bed like some giant spaceship taking off…
