Racing Kart... Modeling and Texturing Practice...

Thanks Norvman for this explanation. This is something I will definitely be experimenting with.

I hope to see it with the finished projects

Test Render of trying to get a Texture file to mask onto the Tire Properly…

I probably won’t go with the Pirrelli Logo… I don’t think they ever made Racing Tires for Karts…

Somthin’ more like this…

i bet the welds were hard to do.
i welded for a major company for about 3.5 years and the welds look great on you cart.
i was wondering how you made?
sculpting maybe?
and the cart looks good too.

and i was wondering if you was going to put a motor on?

This is even better…

Haven’t started modeling them Engine just yet… but very much plan too…
I have the Steering collum and fuel tank I will probably model next…
it may take me awhile to get it all done as I’m using this not just as a modeling excerise for myself but also a Texturing exercise in cycles…

Oh… cool… ! yah man the welds… go here…

I just learned how to do this reciently myself…

start at about post #16 that’s where we start talking about doing weld beads…

i got a friend who ran carts when we were younger somebody gave him some N2O and he blew the piston through the top of the motor.LOL
he would talk about the outlaw carts and tell me they would go over 100 mph.
his father owned a track before he lost it.

the slicks are for dirt/mud and the nobs were for pavement

i mean he did mostly mud/dirt racing told me the mud would get so sticky.

and thanks for the tip on the welds:eyebrowlift:

no… no… you’ve got that backwards… slicks are definately for pavement…

he would talk about the outlaw carts and tell me they would go over 100 mph.

yes… it’s a very common thing for the Road Racing (what we use to call enduros) Karts to do 120 mph on the top of a strait away…
a shifter kart… 180 mph… easy…

Think of it this way… a Kart is nothing more than a 4 wheel motor cycle…

now how fast can a motor cycle clock out at… most will easily out accellerate a Car …
same is true of a Racing Kart…

most Karts are of the 100cc two cycle one cyclinder type … these are a bit on the limited side… still a 100cc Road Racing Kart can top out at 120 mph…
move up to the 125cc classes and your dealing with much more horse power… Remember a Kart weighs in at a little over 100lbs… the average 125cc will pound out 25 horses stock… an average guy might weigh in at 175 lbs… so 275 lbs / 25hp … gives you 11 lbs for every 1 horse… the average performance corvette slams in at 7 or 8 lbs per horse…
once you start adding twin engines… and Shifter Kart gear ratios… you really do have a mini formula one Race Car on your hands…

I know what you mean.
My memory might be wrong its been about 15 years ago:)

i’m thinking about making a cart now. LOL
i might not do as much detail as you though
mine might fall apart on take off:)
might be after i finish modeling my alien so about a week or two

I know what you mean.

LOL! … I was Racing them in the Early 80s… and only have kept up with them over the years because I have freinds who still race them…

more detail work on the Back Drive Axle…

Bolts, Bearings, Threads…

Holy details 0.o!

you forgot to say… “Batman”

just wanted to throw these wires in…
