norvman's_ Sketchbook

Work done on the front hull plate

more work on the front hull … lots of vents and stuff on the Merkva that make it an interesting Build to do…

Nice sketchbook norvman. You have some very interesting textures on you images, or maybe using some odd filters in your renders.

Of course my attention was immediately drawn to the kart render. Having raced them myself for about 7 years I have been tempted to model one myself but my skill set is not quite up to that level yet. I think that is the first kart I have seen on this site so far.

that’s great! I did the same thing back in the early 80s… I had a Margay Panther X matched up first with an old Mac101A… then a Pirelli… then a Yamaha (that’s when the Yamaha’s first came out with electronic ignition!!!) LOL! it was great fun and a learned a hell of a lot about engineering doing it… I also had an enduro (road racing) frame (I can’t remember the make it was)

as far as my textures go… I’m just messing around with them at this stage… I don’t spend a lot of time on them and have pretty much just copied what others have been doing using cycles…
I’m certainly no texturing expert…

most of what I have been using has come from these two threads…

http://www.blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?278285-Yet-Another-Thread-about-Cycles-Materials

http://www.blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?250127-Car-Paint-Materials-Iridescent-Layers-Carbon-Fiber-Leather

and I haven’t even hardly done anything with compositing or dividing my renders for composting or anyting like that so for the most part my renders are mediocer at best… I know…

I have been concentrating frankly on Rigging, Modeling, design, learning texturing… been doing some storyboards for animation, and starting to practice doing some character animation…

animation is really what I’m interested in when it comes to using blender…

even though I have used blender for some projects at work that proved very useful and profitable with just the limited Rendering skills I have at the moment… Of coarse I use other softwares like AutoCADD and XSI and Photoshop when I have to… but I am progressively moving towards all ‘open source’ software…

Periscope and Drivers Hatch work…

and on the vents and screens…

Just learned how to do Welding Beads here’s my Test Render…

I have been needing that for some time…

More Racing Kart Weld Beads…

Here is some detail work on the Front Hub…

More Texturing work on various Metal Parts

Here’s some work I did on the Drive Sproket

I really like your weld beads! (I didn’t know what they were called) Its that kind of detail that is really going to make things pop. Its hard to see your tank tread test. It goes too fast.

just go to the vimeo site and download the video and play it on your computer to see each frame…
even still… I could rerender it at a slower pace… but I’m in the middle of other things at the moment…

yes the welded bead texturing is really cool… !
I got that from this guys tank thread…

moved my Kart Build to here…

Just if anyone is interested…

Here’s a Texturing test I did to make a Jet Thrust Exaust… (non-partical)

Nice effect. I almost want to make a jet now.

working on this for a local guy who needs it to composite into one of his videos… he doesn’t need it to look too realistic… (that’s why accepted the work… I knew I couldn’t do it perfect within the time limit he gave me so… )

Hey Mo!

I also posted the Jet Exaust thing here with my blender file attached…

@norvman
i was wondering if i could use your racing cart renders for reference to position parts on the one i’m getting ready to work on?
none of the parts will be the same just need for positioning parts.

yes… the ones I have posted here… yes… but… there is countless reference material that is probably better than my renders frankly…

just give it a google…

for instance… Kart Frames…

Check it out…

that’s one of the reasons I choose a Racing Kart… soooooooo… much Online Reference material… LOL!
