THE FIRST OFFICIAL L.A./REGIONAL MEETING IS THIS SATURDAY! YAY!
SPECIAL LOCATION NOTE: the meeting location complex is the Westmoreland Lofts @ 201 North Westmoreland Avenue, cross of Council Street. It’s like a small technology center with many businesses. It is close to the Vermont/Beverly Metro Redline Station. It is really cool. The following may sound complicated but it is not when you do it.
You will want to enter from the south side on Council Street by the gated parking lot. Park on the street. There is a keypad coded gate door with a directory. You can ring Bryan/The Build Shop at #128 and he will buzz you in. Then walk forward past the inside hallway door, turn right at the outside hallway and he is in #128 on the left.
At times we MAY have someone out by the door, you will need the blender 3 finger and thumb/index circle hand sign to get in wink wink just kidding!
This is a great place and a great opportunity to be part of the hacker space movement.

The ToS screening went great! Thanks to everybody that showed up. Over 40 people were there and they kept Ian busy with lots of good questions after the screening.
Special thanks to Arno again for working with ASIFA and Woodbury University in having ToS on the big screen!

Hi all! I hope everyone had a nice holiday season. We are kicking off the new year with a bang.
The Blender Orange County(OC) Local group has established regularly scheduled monthly meetings.
The Los Angeles Local Blender Working Group has a home in The Valley/Pasadena area now for working groups.
The meeting is Monday Jan. 14th, 6-9pm at the Panera Bread on Foothill Blvd. in Pasadena.

Our first regional Blender Users meeting of the year is on the Westside at the famed ShowBiz Cafe and Store.

Ton is planning to be at SIGGRAPH 2013 21-25 July in Anaheim (Los Angeles). It’s unclear if there will be a Blender booth like last time. There will be a “production session” event about Tears of Steel. As with the last SIGGRAPH, we’ll try to synchronize an LA Blender Meetup for beers with the Blender Foundation crew.
Movie Screenings - Oscar Nominated Shorts - Animation and Live Action
Let’s get together for The Oscar Nominated Short Films 2013 - Animation and Live Action screenings. They are two separate screenings.
ShortsHD™ is once again bringing the wildly popular OSCAR® nominated short film programs (Live Action, Animation, and Documentary) to theaters in the US, Canada, and Europe beginning February 1st.
These usually run through 14th, possibly longer but don’t chance it. Locations and lengths of runs vary. They are usually at art house theaters.
