lighting

Hi All

Really bored today so I messed around with some lighting, wanted to see if I could have volumetric lighting going at the same time as using portals.

Scene took forever to render most of the fireflies out, 15000 samples. Did not help that the cube had some glossy.

Yes clearing noises in Cycles with volumetric usual take a lot of time. Can we see the whole scene?

Could you try rendering the same thing with branched path-tracing and correlated multi-jitter?
I’m not sure it will help, but i’d like to know if it works :wink:

If only the background could be much darker and if only you could have more detail in the scene, this has the beginning of what could become a trippy image.

Now to see the improved portal rendering get into master (which is supposed to be able to make use of a background with MIS enabled).

I will not really work on the scene anymore as it was just a test.

PS: If anyone can come up with a better node setup I would like to see it.
