Help with bone that is not fixed in the axis of rotation IK

Hello everybody,
I’m a beginner and I’m learning about rigging.
I’m trying to model the motion of an excavator with IK.
I managed almost all the movements, but I am unable to keep the bracket2_bone bone (image below) fixed to the bucket axis.

I tried:

  • copy location of an empty element
  • limit distance
  • various IK lock settings
But nothing has worked so far. :frowning:

Any tips?

Thanks.

Hi and welcome to BA, i would recommend to provide your blend file so that we know what you did, what the problem is and how we can fix it.

Hi walpa,
make the IK target a child of the bucket_bone so that the rest of the IK chain will follow when you move the controll_bone. Give the bracket2_bone the IK constraint and set the Chain Length to 2:

excavator.blend (109.5 KB)

Thanks for the quick response

It worked very well!
I only changed the bucket_bone constraint to IK to be able to move the rest of the armature.
Thank you very much.
