My (open) entry:

The background was made in Blender (rendered in Cycles). The flowers and fruit were drawn in Gimp.

TARDIS Maker:Thanks! That’s pretty cool about Dr. Who. I’ll have to check that out sometime!

finalbarrage: Thank you. It was fun to create.

using software to monitor the temprature.

its topping at 80c, but i’ve done heavier renders in the past with a blowing 98c and it was just fine.

Well that looks good, guess you’ll have to keep troubleshooting elsewhere. Best of luck.

@finalbarrage

I guess you have, but just in case: have you checked you RAM modules for errors? A memory test could shed some light on this. If one of the modules is damaged you would get a blue screen whenever the system tries to use the damaged part of the memory. (And the more memory is used (simulations and stuff), the more likely this gets.)

ram seems to be fine.

That doesn’t indicate corrupt memory, just memory accesses! If I remember right you’d want to use something like chkdsk or memtest…

I’m not a Windows user, but on *nix in the rare event of a crash you can easily check things like dmesg, etc and find out what happened.

All that said, Blender has never ever crashed any of my machines / OS’s

I would do a disk check, since you installed the sims, you’ve been getting this. Seems to me like your computer may be using bad sectors as swap for ram. This will lead to errors.
