So, with the image of the sole king chess piece on the board comes the text:

Not really sure if that is possible, but what happens if you put a big light source directly behind the king and direct it into the viewers direction. This could be great looking: black background, white “round” light and in the middle the dark silhouette of the king.

Hi grosem, I increased the spotlight effect. See renders below. The first is somewhat more subtle then the second.

I am going to need your final pictures until January 25th, as I am planning to go online at February 1st.
For this date I just need a low resolution version which I can use to put it on our website.

i’m a blender noob. but thought i’d give this a shot.
what do you think of this? similar to the spotlight idea, i just added the other pieces too.
also to give credit where it’s due, i modelled the pieces but the wood shader is by “sizzler” on blendswap.
it’s a bit noisy now because of low sampling.

The first one looks really great now (perhaps we need a thicker font), but for the second we need another caption as there is no “real spotlight”. Ideas?

Hi! i know that the deadline is just around the corner, but i just could not miss the opportunity to post the work i have been doing, regardless the unfinished state.
If i can speedup things maybe i can post a more finished version, unfortunately i just could not do more untill this day.
