Thunder God

wow. Very powerful!

This is really cool

phantastic atmosphere - and the inserted dragons give a better imagination of the size of that enormous cloud creature! Simply brilliant.

Thanks all!

@chuck gordon:
Thanks for your kind words, although the dragons were not done by me, its just a cool concept image by cgstrive.
I’m still working to get it that awesome.

Wow! I love the image. No crits from me. You seem to make it better with each post.

@DanPro:
thanks mate! stay tuned for more updates.

So thanks to Cgstrive’s awesome concept, I’ve decided to go the dragon route. everyone cheers
BUT… still much to do, here’s a WIP image of my dragon so far. (its a low detail thing, since it will be from far away.)

its like a WIP within a WIP lol. C&C welcome!

How did you create the actual figure, Did you use the partical system (not very familer with) or make a model and use that as a domain for the godly figure? Also amazing work.

Impressive, great concept. The dragon seems ok to be in a far point of view, but I am not a specialist of flying monsters.

@ eccofire: I modeled the big guy, but also did a lot of smoke simulation stuff. I’ll be doing a breakdown video or tutorial on this maybe, so stay tuned

@ ookka: thanks  yeah I’m not a dragon expert either, but I figured I wouldn’t have to make it ultra convincing. I’m hoping it will be good enough from far away. it looks really crappy up close lol

Nice work, I like the last results, I think you can play a little more on the posture of your character, maybe bend a little the chest, combined with the suggestion of fusobotic, your god could be look more powerfull!.

@ Joseperez:

thanks man  I’ll play around with his posture a bit.
meanwhile… here is another dragon WIP image (I’ve started texturing & rigging) and also a screenshot of the main .blend file with the smoke simulations and lighting etc.

more renders soon

Hi all,
Progress:

I think its almost done. I still want to improve the backround, and work some more on the lightning (hard to do right), and also do some minor finishing touches in Gimp or PS.

enjoy!

really like this one , and the dragon touch is nice. BUT , i would like to lay my two cents ! : )

I think u should skip the idea of the lightning going together , and focus on having his hand electric and more glowing light , and here is the kicker , if u could put some lightning in his chest and up his arms , that would make it look like he is power surgeing from his body , and it would be easyer to get right scenes it would be inside him. my two cents

amazing stuff! I wil be following this!

I briefly red the thread, hope I didn’t miss this, but how did you make all the clouds? Is it a smoke sim or some other technique?

However keep up the great work!

This is excellent! The warm red rays contrast with the cold blue below, and the dragon vs. cloud monster idea is amazing! I do agree that the fingers are too rigid, though. It doesn’t fit with the rest of the body, which is very active. Can’t wait to see the final result!

@Bernardo: Hi Man, yeah this is mostly a smoke sim, and the latest render has a 120 resolution FFT smoke sim (150 or 180 res for final render I hope) thanks for your comments

@ NIDGraphics: thanks! yeah I’m also getting nightmares about those ugly fingers, but I wanted to focus on the lighting/shading/compositing first, just to get the general idea to stick… I’m now working on the fingers and the lighting sparks, and then hopefully going for final render.

stay tuned,
G

Hi all,

I updated the first post, and I’m thinking this is pretty much done. I know this artwork can still improve a LOT, but I’ve decided to cut it off here. The only thing left to do now is to render out a Uber-high resolution version, for showcasing on my blog. thank you all for your wonderful input/comments/critiques etc. A big thankyou in particular to cgstrive and speed777777 for their awesome input

cheers,
G

Good idea bro

Watched this thread from the beginning…great job! I appreciate all the work you put into the final piece.
