I like how you did the Dolphins and then kept a painterly blurred background.

I am trying to learn how to put characters in a scene/background.
Does this look a bit too dark? Also dont know what else could I have done to add interest.

For this shot no I don’t think its to dark. You could lighten up the Dolphins just a tad to get them to pop out a little more. I think for this shot keep it simple. Still if you wish to add more just little pops of color like slightly blurred fish in the background.
One good way to get ideas that I do is look for underwater Videos and watch them. YouTube has a lot of videos of animals and I freeze frame take screen shots. Or if you have the means seeing it in person is best. I don’t have the means, and am not much of a traveler even before Corona.
