Please Help Out in the Support Sections

I think this is an overstatement on the possible issues with the support forums.

This implies that they are just a few rungs above being completely useless, one only needs to look at the wealth of info (with screens) by knowledgeable members in various threads to see otherwise.

I also don’t believe the assessment that the search engine is downright unusable if you know to switch to “search single content type”, believe it or not I’ve actually found stuff using it.

OK then.
Sorry, but I have a little different vision on all these.

I’d second that. Many times I’ve wanted to do a ‘like’ but then realized this ain’ Facebook.

I have to agree here.

Slight off-topic (not support section), but a great example how fast and useful help in this forum could be:
original thread = http://www.blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?354577-A-very-simple-useful-feature-for-noodles-does-it-exist-in-Blender
add-on release = http://www.blenderartists.org/forum/showthread.php?354893-Generic-Note-Node

SE is a great resource but it can be hostile to newcomers. If you have a question, make sure you have exhausted all means of finding the answer before posting. If you are answering, be prepared to put in the effort to make a thorough reply with pictures, examples etc. Otherwise, you are likely to be down-voted and publicly criticized.

This shows that sometimes having control over everything is not adequate …

It really doesn’t matter one bit what the best platform might be for getting help. People are asking for help in the support forums, right now. If you can provide them with help, please do so. Discussing whether SE or the forum is better doesn’t accomplish anything for people asking for help.
