Does anyone know if Octane supports Motion blur of deformed objects?
Also, I’m a little confused about somehting and can’t seem to find any info on their website; On their site is says that Octane is a GPU renderer and not a hybrid renderer. But nowhere does it say if this means that it does not run on CPU. Is it GPU only?

By the way, I find it fascinating that we suddenly have so many choices for rendering in Blender.

Yes.

Yes, new Luxrender RC, the developer of VRay addon for Blender has a job at Chaos Group and Blender2Octane.
Yeah.

No, Octane does not support AMD graphics cards.
The only source code that you get when buying octane is the source code for the modified blender, and the plugin

Bought octane to test and use :P,
as it seems it is in terms of nodes simpler than cycles?
Diffuse texture with Alpha texture combined
(the first one shows Cycles the next Octane)
and Mesh Lightsource with transparency/Opacity

you need to download
Octane Server - 1.20.1 - 1.1 beta.exe
install it and and start the OctaneServer.exe
whenever you want to render.
you also need the login and password
which is written in your OctaneLive Accounts

Hi tungerz, may it is better to ask support questions on Octane forum.
The default 127.0.0.1 is correct, some user had problems to enter user/pass but after reinstall server it work.
Did you follow the manual?

Thanks ymclay -n- mib2berlin,
not thinking where about where I posted, your right should post on octane…
Yes, I followed instructions, started the server and nothing…
Now granted, I downloaded and cranked it up to give it a test drive, and then…
I had to leave for work (still at work too)…grrrrrr
so no time to try to get it going properly.
Does the stand alone octane have to be running too?
Thanks again,
Cheers,
~Tung

Post on Octane forum, hehe.
No, it has not but you can work parallel if you want.
Start server, start Blender Octane, log in with your second account user/pass.
You need internet access for first login.
Cheers, mib.

If you want to compare features, check the homepages.
If you want to compare anything else, you’re comparing trains and airplanes.

Octane is faster on most hardware in most scenes and has a more complete feature set at the moment, there are really no comparisons to be made.

Check JimStar’s (the dev) post here to understand the way Octane for Blender works.
And pricing info: If we get the beta, what will it cost to upgrade to the final version?
Mib, permit me to quote you for those here
Nothing, thats the benefit to jump in during Beta development.
You get a very stable but not feature complete software.
Cheers, mib.
(Beta meant rather feature complete but not stable but this was in early days of software development.)
