New Blender Guru Contest: Characters

I have a question that relates to my entry idea. I have a character that i designed and modeled several months ago but i wasnt happy with the quality of the topography at the time. I feel like this is the chance to redo it. If i were to change the design and completely remodel the character (and make it higher poly as the original was designed for game use) and make it more detailed would that still be allowed?

Well, believe it or not, this started out being Ton Roosendaal, but then I changed it a little, and a little more…

Update 2/27/14: I finished the arms and legs

You can see the high resolution image here.

I don’t think you would need to change your concept but you would definitely need to model it from scratch.

Hello this is my entry:

Super Meat Boy the first chapter “The Forest”

I hope you like it =)

Blender + Cycles

Composition in Blender and retouch in Gimp.

Credits for team meat for logo.

Well thats good to know. Modeling is the fun part anyway :stuck_out_tongue:

Here is my entry!
Was created in blender internal with no editing out of blender. It took 30 secs to render. Probably gonna make an animation from this!

Hi guys, this is my entry “BARRACUDA”.

hi everyone… well i am not taking part in this competition…as i was working on this project since long time and before competition was announced… so consider this as an inspirational work… All the best to all…

Hey Andrew. Here’s my character. So far, I’m not really sure what it is.

wow Nita, I like much the shaders of your work.
your works seem Film, incredible and quite inspirational.

Cool I’ll be doing something for this, I’ve been wanting to model one of my comic characters since I started with 3d a few weeks ago.

I hope this meets all of the guidelines.
Built and composited in blender, rendered in cycles, touch up in GIMP.

i assume you were going for a dark and creepy feel with this character, however it is difficult to see the it clearly, which is a shame because from what i can see of the skin, the texture looks really nice as well as the eyes.

ahh I thought so, depending on the angle I look at my monitor it is either too dark, or just right. But you are right, I did go for a dark and creepy alien feel so I didn’t want to be too reveling. thanks for the feedback.

Hi!

Here is my entry!

Last seconds of the turret

Nita, can you post the node setup for that skin shader? It’s rather perfect. =)

Learning a lot working on my first full model for this, I can tell I’m going to enjoy animating in this program, but some of the node-based logic in cycles is really counter-intuitive to me.
