How to Get Ahead in Character Animation

When is someone going to update these links? A lot are dead.

hi,im a new member but i cant figure out how to forward my question any way;its how can i compile multiple images to render an animation?

You open a Video Sequence Editor (VSE) window and ADD>images. Then you RMB select a range of images and press Enter. You will see a strip which you can place on the timeline.

To render these images, you need to press the Do Sequence button in the (F10) Scene Window > Anim panel. Then press the big ANIM button.

You’ll find more information here.

In future, you are better off asking questions like this by starting a New Thread in the appropriate forum (after you’re certain you’ve searched for an answer). More people will see your question that way.

Welcome aboard.

Umm, I think you meant Do Sequence … didn’t you ?

… Oh well, it’s one of those buttons anyway …

Oh crap! It was 1am :o

I’ve fixed it above. Thanks Mike.

I don’t know how these will look in the post. I was cleaning out my bookmarks in firefox, and rearranging them, so I thought I would try and help by spamming this thread with my collection of links that have helped me over the past couple months with Blender. I modified the html a little so it was easier to read. I tried not to put too many of the BA or other forums threads here, this forum and the search feature is an amazing resource.

There are plenty more I’m sure, but these are the ones I kept coming back to, or saved to read a little later, I tried to give a slight description for each if it seemed to need it.

these stuff are really helpful…
thanks guys,

There are several books listed in the first post, but people in the market for a book might also want to consider Introducing Character Animation with Blender, which you can read more about here on Amazon:

It is also available from the Blender E-shop, where purchasing it will help support Blender development. See my signature for the link to that.

T

ok, you lot can tell me, sorry if i’m in the wrong section, but- what is there to offer on this ‘blender’ thing then? how easy is it to make games? can you burn them into cd? all for now.

p.s. how do i get a lil message down there?

Warning! cannot find 'c:/ my documents/giving a damn :spin:

Here are some more links. Some of them overlap with Bgstratt’s amazing list.

A word of warning: I don’t control anything on these sites, so you may run into something offensive here and there.

www.animationpodcast.com - This podcast is definitely something you should check out. They don’t come often, but they’re full of great information! A lot of it is Disney-history based, but it’s all nice and useful.

The Illusion of Life
The Animator’s Survival Kit
Animation 1, by Preston Blair.

Happy animating!

This is still very WIP, and mostly just for my own personal learning, but I’m gonna put it here in case it can help anyone else too. I’m working through “The Animator’s Survival Kit” by Richard Williams, after having read it through, to give me a better understanding of the material, and the principles of animation. If you see anything that needs corrected, let me know, I’m always willing to learn and make things better. It took me a long time to find and read the book, after reading and watching anything I could find online, so it’s nice to have it all in one place instead of all over the world. Here’s the link, there are only a few lessons done so far.

DEAD LINK REMOVED

I’ve got here great stuff, Really need for it. Thanks to all.

I’m surprised I didn’t see any mention of The ManCandy FAQ. That’s a great DVD and quite advanced.

Updated Andrew Loomis link, all six of his books in a rar file:
