Pretending to have tons of “haters” and being the victim of death threats is part of famous people’s schtick nowadays. They make it up to bully any opposition and to pose as victims and downtrodden.
When was the last time any one of these ubiquitous death threats that everybody claims they receive ever amounted to anything? Never. They’re lying (or they’re sending the death threats themselves).
And no, I don’t believe that Gamespot is holy writ.
