Cycles 2.7x benchmark CPU only (Fixed link)

its an efficient compiler… it knows how to convert it from the code that the devs wright in to machine code better or smething like that xD

here is an explanation of mingw

As you please.

Here’s my entry:

Blender 2.70
Windows 7 Ultimate 64b
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 @ 3.0 Ghz
08:49.59

i color coated some things… is it better?

MacPro 2008
Dual Quadcore 2.8Ghz

Blender 2.70 Official
3:13 min

what exact cpu is it

well the MinGW took 404 seconds, and the normal one took 504 seconds, so thats a 20% reduction.
From what I read its not too easy to cross over to other platforms so its never officially released. (Thanks HolyEnigma74 for compiling the MinGW version)

Perhaps they should write the CPU version of Cycles in pure assembly language, either that or build a 2 lane highway to the moon, whatever is easier.

dont thank me, thank PsyFI for being patient and answering compile questions for me.
he’s the brains behind the operation.

Win 7 64-bit SP1
AMD FX-8350 at 4.9Ghz

Blender 2.69: 5:28.38
Blender 2.70: 3:48.28 (HUGE benefit!)

I also tried a few variants off of Graphicall and got the same numbers.

yes i made this for direct comparison between 2.69 and 2.7x most of the textures and materials had optimizations… also hair is faster too

and that oc gave you a pretty good boost over my fx 8350… niceee

Yep, yep, yep puffs out chest It’s pretty nice… in seriousness, though, it’s proving to be a pretty good CPU for rendering. A lot of applications put it neck and neck with the Intel 4930 and 4960 for a fraction of the price. If you ever feel the need, the Corsair H100i has been proving very capable of dealing with the heat. And now that the H105, H90, and H110 are out, you can find the H100i on discount.

Also, I tried the MinGW build.

Oh… my… god. 2:50. That’s amazing! Are there any disadvantages to this build? It can’t be a free lunch. That is some serious speed.

Still… I’m seething with jealousy over NudeIZ’s time out of his/her 4930k.

window 7 ultimate 64 bit

not sure if this is correct, in the begining it was showing remaining 5 mins, is that normal?

windows 7 ultimate 64 bit
intel 3770 (non K) @3.8 GHz

AMD FX 8320 8-core 4.1 Ghz Manjaro linux

No OSL, if you are using regular cycles materials its fine.
