Okay, entry posted, and now… Alexa, make me a sandwich.

Probably no time to make an entry. My first thought was to make the “Landrew” town from the original Star Trek series.

Or a Borg ship.

Or the town from The Giver.

The Divide

Blender 4 cycles pure entry. I portray the existence of poverty on the fringes of a wealthy society.

Title: “Worst Possible Future”

Pure.
Blender logo was downloaded. World map was made using a downloaded PNG and displacement. Everything else was modeled over the last few days.

I didn’t want to make yet another dystopian city, so I went with a “Dystopian Future” instead.

Why are you so obsessed with mice and cheese?

I have a feeling this is the reason, or the inspiration: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maus. The shadow on the floor looks like it could be that of a cat, making the absence of cheese the least of his problems.

Possibly. But does anyone know which cheese is made backwards? I suspect last week’s winner might know. @gaianl

Mice are great! But in this case I was just rolling with an idea my son suggested.

If there was any inspiration it would probably be Torben Kuhlmann and his wonderful mouse books and illustrations.

And people want a truly socialist society!? That’s what they’d get.

One of the things I was thinking about when I made this was actually China’s ‘ghost’ cities.

You’re really not far off the truth with your render.

That is very concrete evidence for the state of our world.

So I looked up “Dystopian city” and given the events of the past 2 years, first thing that popped to mind was the Russian Kremlin. Looked up some images for ideas, then decided it wasn’t for me. I could model it, but why would I want to…

Last week, my entry was based on weekend challenge #1075, I just expanded on it. I’ve been working on an animation based on #1075, making the rocket man fly around. As I render the animation, I keep finding render errors to fix. Hopefully the video will be posted soon!

Really cool entries so far…

The Old Temple

Pure.

I started over 3 times until I landed on this one and was happy with the results. The rain gives it the special athmosphere. And provides an excuse for the mist
Made much use of the geometry nodes, of course, for the flats. I have 5 different balconies and around 10 assesoirs.

[Edit: more details for street and temple. More highlights on the temple]
