Procedural Wood Shader

Here is an early attempt at procedural texturing in Cycles.

Looks interesting. I would take the “grain” and connect it to the Displacement socket on the Output node with a “Multiply” node in between (to control the strength of the bump). You could probably use the Brick texture as well if you had a flat surface and wanted to add normals and bump mapping to simulate the boards.

I was going to recommend you trying MapZone2, which was a procedural texture creating tool I played around with a couple years ago, but when I tried to find the download link, I discovered that it has been discontinued. :frowning:

The texture looks good! :slight_smile:
But what seems a bit wrong to me is the gap between the planks. I think tables made of such clean wood normally don’t have these gaps.
