How do I rotate an object?

I’m sure a few of you have clicked this link ready to give me the business, but let me explain what I’m trying to do. If you add a new cylinder to your scene, you’ll have the vertices directly on the x and y axis. What I want is to rotate the cylinder so that 2 faces are perpendicular to each axis. Obviously I could eyeball it but that would cause problems eventually and I like things to be perfect. Does anyone have a solution for this? EDIT: Someone already helped me out with this.
