Can't Import FBX or DAE

Hi, all–

I’m using Blender for a project because of the three.js exporter, but I’m doing my animation using Maya (2016). I am unable to get Blender to successfully import anything I export from Maya–either .fbx or .dae. I know the exports themselves work, as I’m able to successfully import them into not only Maya, but 3DS Max and Houdini. When I set Maya’s exporter to a few versions back (2013) and ASCII, Blender could at least pull the model in, but it was unattached from the skeleton and there was no animation.

How do I create .fbx and .dae files that Blender will actually read? From what I can tell from a couple of hours’ Googling, many people have this problem, but I couldn’t find a solution (I might have overlooked it, though–I also can’t find the milk in the fridge).

Thanks for you help!

Mark

For info on what can be imported see http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Extensions:2.6/Py/Scripts/Import-Export/Autodesk_FBX

  • Armatures

  • Mesh: Shape keys.

So it looks like animation can be exported from Blender, but not into it?
