Bamboo, Panda
http://www.artofinterpretation.com/images3/wc650-BambooPanda-byrjt2015.jpg

3dnotguru: I appreciate the several contrasts you have at play here: motion / stillness, value contrast, hues / monochromatic…

Gordi: The contrasts of the non-sharpness vs. sharpness of the objects in your image are effectively enhanced by their criss-cross placement.

Helge: I smiled as soon as I saw this and thought this was brilliantly done. Great imagination and juxtaposition of various visual and conceptual aspects!

shajuke: Your beautiful and peaceful scene contributes to literal and figurative reflection, and the closeness / relative rigidity of the trees contrasts wonderfully with the openness of the sky and the tranquility of the water.

fcharr: The playfulness of the piece, the checkered areas, the heaviness of the weights vs. the softness of the bed and sky contrast in interesting ways.

SimplyD3D: And intriguing contrast of snow versus warmth. I had fun a while back playing around with the idea of a snowman wishing he could touch the sun. Hope he doesn’t melt =)

mik1190: The interior vs. exterior aspects really support the multiple contrasts sustaining your piece. Lots of things to think about here!

Photox: Another excellent render from you, and a very well-developed idea! The lighting, the work on the web, and the furry aspects of the creature are great, as are the contrasts: general expectations/fears of a spider vs. this spider, size vs. emptiness, light vs. dark…

GPS14: This is a really interesting sculpture where perhaps the underlying conceptual contrasts, in terms of visions/perspectives of existing personas vs. the added, could not be be greater. Good work!

YAFU: I enjoyed several contrasts in this piece: the realistic grass versus cute/fun style of the creature, the head vs. the tail, the expressive face vs. the seemingly expressive tail.

greengiant83: That was a very interesting variation on the polygonal pattern. The organic vs. the geometric, color contrasting with the grey, all worked very well, I thought, as did the perspective and angle of the view.

Well done, everyone!

thx Robert  I’m happy with this turnout!
shajuke: the juxtaposition of night and day?

For me juxtaposition is only a conceptual contrast to show thing in opposite to their meaning. I tried to do realistic scene and any color or motion contrasts are only side effects but maybe an art is when one see more than designer thought about.

It is, I should have darkened the sky and done a few other things but I was too sick to bother doing anything else.

Thanks Robert. The blue ‘thingy’ is supposed to be a peace symbol. The reason most people won’t make the connection is because it looks nothing like a peace symbol. I originally had a front lit image, pretty photoreal actually, and I decided to experiment with supercharged kick/rim which I liked. Great entries all!!!

@RobertT, Thank you for the comments.
Some of these bugs have a design on the tail that emulate a face. I think I failed to represent that idea, little time to work on the design of the tail.

I liked the art in your entry. The depth and shading, and nice lighting in the bamboo. Also I like the canvas texture.

@GPS14, what technique you used to obtain these sculptures?

RobertT: thank you. This time i struggled a bit to obtain a visually pleasing image, surely can be improved.

I know this may sound a bit repetitive, but good work everyone  .

“Juxtaposition” - what a scary word. But a wonderful topic. All these different entries prove that! Very nice entries by the way

@Robert: Thanks, I’m glad it made you smile. That is what I had planned. Regarding the Panda: my little daughter always laughs when I scroll down to the ‘Teddy’. So thanks again

@Photox: It took me some time to crack this riddle. But since I did, it feels obvious and I’m really not sure why I didn’t see it before. This is where my vote went. BTW: What did that spider eat to get this big? Or does it turn peaceful only after lunch?

@GPS14: “Mount Trumpmore” Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that… he is probably just the scary clown who is making everyone else look better (or more ‘votable’). Regarding the image: very nice. I wouldn’t have dared to go with sculpted heads if I’m short on time. Respect!

GPS14

I know we are getting into politics, but being this is the Blender forum I thought I would add my impressing of the Trumpster. One of my first head sculpting tests. Once I get textures down I might just be really dangerous.

what is quite interesting about trumps hair, is that it’s made up of layers that flow in opposing directions. the bottom layer goes from side to side, and the top layer goes from front to back.

Darn i had an idea too late xD

i’ve been meaning to come back to the weekly challenges…
i was gonna try and make a swimmer in the sky :frowning:
