There are lots of threads on this subject but none are about solving the problem. Anybody know anything about this?

If billboards have been unable to be rendered by cycles over at least the last 3 years then maybe it’s not really a priority. Therefore don’t expect anyone to give you a timetable as for when it may or may not be implemented.
