@eyalmu, I hope the antitrust laws never allow that fusion of companies

Good entries, congratulations to all.

we seem to be suffering from brokenlinkitis…

@helge I like the background, it gives the right mood.
@Photox Great colors and look overall, but how is it connected to the theme? (maybe that’s the reason you named it that way?)

I thought greengiant entered for the contest, his entry post suggests so, am I missing something?

Winner winner chicken dinner!

To clarify rarebit’s cryptic response - the winner of the previous weeks challenge, in this case greengiant83, picks the topic for the following challenge but is not allowed to compete, but may enter a non competing image.

Or as rarebit stated … Winner winner chicken dinner!

Looking forward to the next challenge. Been too busy to even make a yellow cube the last two weeks.

@eyalmu: Thanks, I’m glad the background works as planned

A few weeks ago it occurred to me that it may be possible to distort textures based on other textures (e.g. procedural noise) by using the texture node’s vector input. The results from my tests were quite nice and after searching for related ideas/techniques on the internet I noticed that the idea wasn’t new at all.

There is a Quick Tip on this on Youtube: Blur and Distortion in Cycles Materials, which is based on Bartek Skorupa’s BCon14-talk Manipulate texture coordinates like a boss. Compared to this, my node setup is just a quick hack but it worked well with the rabbit:

(Musgrave distorting a Voronoi Texture)

such suspense! I wonder what topic Helge will pick for the next challenge :stuck_out_tongue:

Helge’s technique shamelessly commuted to mind for future abuse  thank you

It’s works great too if you load a regular image texture (I mean one that has like balls or squares or lines) from image and use Musgrave and/or Voronoi as vector.

And… The winner of Weekend Challenge 648 with over 50% of the votes… is… Helge!

Here’s to all the great participators…

Thanks everyone! New theme is coming up right away!

@Napivo: I’m glad you find it useful. In the first youtube video The Digital M is doing this with photos. One image is distorted so much, it looks blurred. Have fun
