[Add-on] Replace mesh name with object name on all selected objects

This is a simple add-on that goes through all selected objects and replaces the mesh name with the object name.

This is a nice way to quickly clean up a Blend file/Models before exporting or making a file publicly available.

Install the script just like you would any other add-on. Select the objects you want to have mesh names replaced. Spacebar->Object to mesh name. Download from Google drive

For more options for renaming different data you can also use the Batch rename addon http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Extensions:2.6/Py/Scripts/Object/Batch_Rename_Datablocks

A few days ago I had the same issue and came across this post. But I noticed this add-on hasn’t been updated in a few years and doesn’t work on newer Blender versions.

Realizing that I can’t always waste time on manually changing the names of 40+ meshes I decided to make a FREE add-on that adresses the issue.

This add-on allows you to quickly add the _low or _high suffix’s to objects name’s and datablocks or just copy the object’s name to its datablock. All in just 3 buttons! https://gemesil.gumroad.com/l/Easy-Rename-Blender-Addon

Currently I only tested it on versions 2.8 - 3.0 of Blender but it should work just fine on Blender 3.1 as well.
