Why can't blender have real camera projections?

So, i am using Clarisse at the moment and, omg - PANORAMIC CAMERA PROJECTIONS!

Anyway. Why doesn’t blender have actual camera projections? As far as I can tell the camera projection space is pretty useless, and the only way to get a camera projections to work is to unwrap to view, which isn’t always very practical, and wouldn’t even work with a panoramic projection.

So. Why doesn’t Blender do simple camera projections?

Is this some sort of rethorical question ?
Perhaps because Blender isn’t perfect ?
Maybe because no-one took the time to code such a thing ?

I suppose you’re right. I shouldn’t really complain being that I cannot contribute. It just seems like it’s something that would be pretty important for a compositor to have included.

It’d be a really nice feature to have, especially projections through a panoramic camera.
