Not an idea but I was wondering yesterday about if it was possible that a 3D soft could be “play” as a game. I don´t like the term “gamification” but if Blender or another 3D soft could implement a gamification system could attract tons of people IMHO.
What do you think about it?
I don´t know how this could be done, I just was thinking about this yesterday and I want to share this with you guys.
OP - “gamification” applies to social media platforms, not the software they cover, and refers to users gaining badges based on various participation scores. While its a good idea for purely social platforms it has much less use for technical discussion areas such as this one, so I don’t see it bringing in a whole lot of additional participation.
“Congratulations: You made your first render!”
“New achievement: You used Blender for 5 work-years!”
“World Record: You loaded a scene with 1 billion polygons!”
CGCookie has a system experience/quizzes and the like. I suppose you could put in an achievement system with the Steam version, but I’m not sure how you’d make Blender detect if you actually did anything useful or not.
