BGMC 18 | GravRacing

Hi all,
here is my first entry to a BGMC, the game GravRacing.

The vehicle, a hovercraft, has no engine to move, it’s just standing in the air. To get it moving, it has to be attracted by other objects. To activate these, the player has to hover the cursor over the object, what makes the hovercraft moving towards it. Using the right (S) and left arrow (A) keys it can be rotated if no object is in view.

Having had little time this week, the file GravRacing.blend (2.35 MB) shows just the basic concept.
Tested with Blender 2.76

Edit: Added “A” and “S” for turning, thanks to S-Markt for the feedback.

To make playing together possible, I wrote a veery basic server, which connects to clients over network.

To run the server, execute server.py (http://wavel.de/public/downloads/server.py)

On Linux:

python3 server.py

On Windows, double clicking the file should work if Python 3 is installed.
You can get it at https://www.python.org/downloads/release/python-350/

In the file GravRacingMultiplayer.blend (2.35 MB) you have to change the IP address to the IP address of the computer running the server if you want to play with multiple computers. For testing with two clients on one computer, just leave it is as is.

If the server is running, just start the game in GravRacingMultiplayer.blend (2.35 MB). When a second client is connecting to the server, the game will automatically start.

thats an interesting concept. a little tricky but with some tweaks it would be a fun game. you shall offer a and s for turning also.

the balls look like ozma from ff9 and their colors make me happy
