f you want to use this you’ll need a development daily build…
Or a Blender 2.76 release candidate…http://download.blender.org/release/Blender2.76/
Thanks to Antony Riakiotakis (psy-fi) for the commit!

I’m certain that combined with the texture paint mode, Blender may actually become a decent solution for complex texture creation (complete with the generation of normal maps and height maps as long as you have a plane to use as a reference for those channels).
Though I don’t think companies like Allegorithmic will have reason to panic as their software will still be able to easily do things in that area that Blender can’t.
Also to note, I think this was mentioned in the big sculpting thread in the Tests forum a while back, but it might be convenient to have a thread here as seen now.
Thanks for the mention but patch is actually by Tilman Blumhagen. Happy blending!
Ah, now I need to get the latest commit! This is excellent news
If you have a build from the last few weeks it should already be in there, so go to sculpt mode and give it a test.
Already synced git, will build at lunchtime and give it a whirl tonight (start of the work day here and that, unfortunately, means coding not sculpting ).
I have created a plane, applied the Multires modifier, and i’m trying to sculpt on this plane with the tiling enabled. However, the offset at 1 gives me odd results, with the tiling being applied wrongly. After changing the offset to exactly 1.3, it seems to work. Why is this happening?
It’s a 1x1x1 plane, positioned at 0x0x0.
