Thanks GPS14! And you are right - there is still so much I could have done if I had found more time. But as this is probably not going to happen any time soon, I’ll just need to get things done faster Great entry btw. - this guy seems to be quite unstoppable!
Helge’s entry got my vote this week primarily because of how it portrays the theory of relative truth (whether he intended to or not). I thought it was really clever. And the dragon is cute.
Compared with GPS14’s entry, the viking may be a hero, or could very well be an invader and thus forth a villain in the eyes of the unseen person about to be smote. That’s the theory of relative truth displayed in Helge’s scene.
I also really liked opulenthawk’s entry and fcharr. Had I time this wee I would have done firefighters in honor of the many firefighters battling wildfires through out the west, and the three who died protecting others.
I don’t understand drawingisdead and orchidacaese entries. I think they are movie references to shows I have not seen.
The idea behind my entry is that Yuri Gagarin was declared “Hero of the Soviet Union” in 1961. He is officially a hero whether he accomplished anything significant or not. Just didn’t want to put his name anywhere because there are a whole lot of other cosmonauts and astronauts. They’re all heroes.
I know, my entry doesn’t work too well for the topic, but I had already started a viking (for another contest) about an hour before I saw the theme, and so I posed him, sculpted him, and made this scene.
thanks Ryeath. I started out wanting to do a wow themed entry. It branched into a medieval firefighting render.
I remember watching firefly, I believe Drawingisdead is quoting Mal. The series was sort of a space western. I’m not sure what the 4 rings represent though.
Thanks Ryeath, I’m happy to see that the idea managed to stay visible. And especially if it comes to heroes, people tend to insist on their own truth being the only/real one - which got us into a lot of trouble throughout history…
@Jeepster: Glad you like it. The diagonal setup made things a lot easier - and in the end, a little dragon still works well with less details
This week, my vote went to opulenthawk. One reason being, that I usually spend most of the Sunday morning this way… sometimes it is hard to distinguish between heroes and packhorses!
I’m supposed to be doing some boring office work right now but I’ll review your works instead.
eyalmu: Well made picture, good quality and enough detail. But too sad :’(
Helge: Awesome sense of humour. But the dragon looks weird (wrong material?)
Drawingisdead: ???
opulenthawk: Solid entry. I like everything in it
GPS14: I voted this one. I think viking looks really cute, like a children’s toy. Quality is good, color palette is well picked
Enos Shenk: Minus for advertising
Mswan: Lots of details and ok lighting/materials but kinda boring to look at
fcharr: Way too dark. Needs a key light in the least. And something more interesting to look at. Maybe blood on the blade
Helge and Orchidaceae, Thank you for your comments. In this case, my son was my inspiration, actually the jeans texture is a photo of one of his jeans, and the shirt, is a photo of my shirt last saturday (the squares one, not the superman). In some way, this is a way to express how much he overwhelmes me when he treats me like his hero. I enjoy it, I understand it will only last for a few years.
Great entries everyone, I think this subject required a more “epic” entry such as the ones from GPS14 and Helge.
Photox, I am from Mexico so maybe I do not understand the reference (very realistic btw), why do you think of hot dogs when you hear hero?
