Where can I learn more about ATTRACT?

I’m hugely interested in this asset management tool that was used for gooseberry, but can’t find anything on it. Is it available? What is the breath of it’s features? Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

could only find some github links;

https://github.com/armadillica/attract-blender-addonhttps://github.com/armadillica/pillar-python-sdk
https://github.com/armadillica/pillar
https://github.com/armadillica/pillar-web

seems like it is an online thing got a name change and probably is connected to the Blender cloud…?

I’m also interested on this. Any more info is welcome.

Thanks.

It used to be called BAM (Blender Asset Manager), it got a name-change to ATTRACT. Some online usage of it can be found in the weeklies but details about it’s development or usage seem very thin on the ground.

Thanks rdo3. It seems they dropped BAM (which was new for Gooseberry) for the existing ATTRACT then. All good information. I’d upvote, like, or otherwise highlight your post if I could!

On the other hand, it seems I need to inform someone elsewhere in the forums that they were mistaken as to how ATTRACT could be used for us game developers. :frowning:

Seems pretty attractive

Sorry sorry…
Okay
What does it do?

From what I’ve seen, it is allows you to break up a film into grouped shots, give them an “owner” (i.e. who is in charge of it), a status, a duration, upload files, and a preview (at least in the usage I’ve seen in Gooseberry).

With each shot having a state and preview, people (i.e. managers/reviewers) can connect to the server, look at what has been done & needs to be done, provide commentary and use that to manage the studio artist’s time. As each shot reaches has a duration, one can ostensibly know how much of the film is completed, how much is to be tweaked, how much has yet to be started, etc.

Essentially, it is a film-focused task tracker.

BAM has not been dropped; it handles packing/unpacking of the blend file and relevant dependency assets (library blends, images, caches) for the render system (flamenco). Attract collaborates with the blender sequencer with a plugin and is used for task management as far as I know. Francesco is better suited to give more details here.
