In the Gooseberry PM VSE text strips is mentioned.
“6. Text strip type, a simple tool that allows subtitles and other text effects”
I can’t find any other info on this and can’t find it in Blender.
Is it there or when does it land? Where can I find more information on this?

It’s on master right now, and it’s an effect strip (Add->Effects->Text).

no text styling??
Yeah it’s just a subtitle tool, but I do wonder if any of the Text effect is exposed to python? That way we could alter the look with an addon by ourselves 
What do you say Psy-Fi? Can we hack the tool or is it closed?
