How to change the color of individual particles. (Molecular Addon)

Wasn’t really sure where to post this,

I had a molecular addon simulation and wanted to change the color of the particles. Even better would be how to select individual particles for coloring. How would I do this?

The same material is applied to all the particles in a particle system.
An object can have multiple particles systems applied to it

How do you want to change the colour ?
What type of particles ?
What renderer ?
etc etc

This is not using the molecular plug in, but you can change particles randomly using this method. Hope this gives you some ideas.
