Making a object that has both rigid and soft body physics?

Hey there, I’m a bit stumped on how I can do something like this. I’m making a whip and I want to know if I can somehow designate parts of the object as vertex groups that are rigid bodies, and other parts that are soft bodies.

What I basically mean, is that I want to know if I can use vertex groupsto separate parts of my whip into being soft bodied (the whip section) or rigid bodied (handle, tip and such)

I’m not sure it can be done. However you can seperate the parts you want to be rigid body and the parts you want soft body, apply the physics to them and then parent the rigid body objects with the soft body (or at least I think that should work.)
