normal map texture causes issues

hi, pls ignore the bad texture since it’s a zoomed in version, but my normal maps are causing lines in the spots where the alpha fades out to zero. what could be causing this issue?

Are you using BI or Cycles?

In Cycles, you might try to actually have two normal maps blended into each other using a color-mix node. For BI, you might want to make sure the RGB information is totally seamless even along UV seams (otherwise you might get those lines).

Also, just throwing this out there for people who may not be aware, but make sure your normal maps are using linear interpolation and non-color data.
