"A wafer thin mint"

Hey hey!

This is the new project of mine. The idea came to me one week ago during the weekend challenge “Too Much”. I got lost in the details and didn’t finish it in time. That is why this is going to be my first attempt for a photorealistic cycles-render

This scene is related to Monty Python’s joke “Mr. Creosote”. To be honest, the clip is really disturbing and distasteful, but I’m not going to add any vomit to my scene! The goal is to get the focus on a tiny Mint-Chocolate piece served on an overcrowded, realistic looking restaurant table.
[Update]

Next Tasks:

  • Sketching ideas and “blueprints”
  • OVERCROWDED
  • Dirty-Look ( this is really hard)
  • Add a Pineapple
  • Rework the tablecloth
  • Add more Objects to the scene: knife, water glas, salt and pepper, leftovers, chairs
  • Add a BG
  • Create Item for the foreground
  • Get the dimensions right: Bottle size in relation to the dishes
  • Work on the Mint-Chocolate!
  • Regrouping and compositing: Get the focus on the Mint-Chocolate!

There is Still a long long long way to go.

And here is one Render with Materials

I used a HDRI from http://gl.ict.usc.edu/Data/HighResProbes/

Update:

I’ve added some chairs and have a nice looking object fort the foreground.
And finally got a knife.
The higher stacked dishes make it more realistic.
Added another small folded napkin on the dishes.

Yesterday I brought a tasty pineapple for myself. I’m going to modell it next!
