3D printer compatibility

Hi folks.

I’m completely new to 3D printing but I’m looking for a unit I can install in the home office. After a little research it looks as though pretty much all desktop sized printers use G-Code? If this is the case, and that’s what Blender produces with the 3D printing addon, any printer will be compatible?

Thanks.

The 3d printing addon does not produce G-code.
Export to a 3d mesh format such as .stl and use a slicer application such as Slic3r to produce the gcode. Check what applications are compatible with your printer

Yeah you would export to .stl and use a slicer. Some applications put a lot of features together like Cura. But the software and feature set can really depend on the 3d printer that you end up getting.

Hi im on a robotics team and we were gifted last year the cube printer from 3d systems its about 1,000 and uses .stl files and converts them to .cube files so for the 3dprinter you are getting the is probably some way to convert the files.
