Helping out a beginnger.

I’ll just start off by saying this is my first post, so sorry if i’m misthreading.
So.
I’m a beginner trying at modelling, and while my harsh modelling (buildings, objects) is something i can improve on my own, i’m awful at human rendering. I’m using references but my final product isn’t that nice(links below) and i can’t even get hopeful on starting a good head. and frankly, i’m sure my technique isn’t that good either. I’ve gone through a few tutorials, but the techniques seem quite varied, and i’m confused as to what a more “proper” techniques. Can anyone point me in the direction of good tutorials for people from reference images?

Hi,

Do you know about makehuman (http://www.makehuman.org/) ?

Looking really good there, I personally use the Joan Of Arc Tutorial as my basis. its quick and easy and the results are amazing.

Good Luck!

There’s technically no “proper” way to model; every company or individual has their own pipeline tailored to their specific needs; how you model for use in a game engine is slightly different than how you would if you were to just pose the character to use in 3D art, for example. It all depends on your timeframe and implementation.

But yes. Don’t be afraid to kick off your characters with pre-generated ones like those made in MakeHuman. A basic rule across the board, however, is to just be sure to avoid triangles and N-gons and keep your edge flow clear. It will make rigging and texturing much easier later on, if you choose to pursue those routes.

Thanks for all the responses guys! and sorry to replying so late.
shall attack those tutorials!

righto! shall do.
