viewport shading solid problem

New to blender, face modelling.
Trying to change the viewport shading from wireframe to solid, don’t know what went wrong. The shading seems unnatural and warped. help please.

Specifications on picture
This is on Edit mode, problem persists regardless of orthographic/perspective view

Switch to face select mode and see if you do not have one huge n-gon face from the opposite to the shown in image side.
Recalculate normals.
Supply blend file if this doesn’t help.

Separate polygons are identifiable from the back
Recalcuate normals Ctrl + N didn’t have much effect than more distortion

As i assumed there is one offending n-gon.
If this is hard to identify in face select mode (you need to rotate view around and look for outlaying face marks which doesnt belong to any of faces you identify) you always can use menu Select ->Select Faces by Sides. On Tool shelf bottom you can insert polygon side count you are looking for. On your mesh number 5 leaves with 3 selected n-gons, 6 and 7 with just one you were looking for. Delete and probably take care of two pentagons at the nose.
