Video Sequence Editor: Scale after image offset

Hi,

i want to apply an ‘Ken Burns effect’ on a hi-res image (3901*2439) in my video but i’m experiencing some troubles with keeping the high resolution of the image itself. I positioning the image in the bottom left corner at its actual size by checking the ‘image offset’ box. Then i add the transform layer trying to stretch the image back to 70ish% but instead of stretching it the image gets windowboxed.

How can i keep full resolution so i can zoom from a detail to the whole image without quality loss?

The VSE doesn’t work like that I’m afraid. The VSE always fits the image to current resolution OR crops to the centre of the image if it is larger.

The workaround is to use the compositor or map the image to a plane in 3D view instead.
