Screen Capture

Hi all, having learned a lot about the free and open source Blender, I would like to share some new techniques I have developed or discovered using a free open source screen capture app (video plus sound).
Can anyone recommend one? Thanks, Dale…

Finding something that does all in one for free might be tricky. If you have an Nvidia graphics card, you can try their Shadowplay function.

Alternatively, you could maybe use blender’s screencast functionality for video (Alt F3, built in), Audacity (free audio program) for audio, and overlay the audio over the video in the sequence editor. I don’t know how well that would actually work (never tried it myself) but it seems like it might do what you want.

Try OBS: https://obsproject.com/

If you are wondering record your computer screen, try this Computer Screen Recorder. It can capture desktop activities, create video tutorials, presentations and record game process with ease. Also, you can select the area of your screen, choose your system and microphone and take screenshot when you’re recording.

I have little luck with any free recorders for windows 7. Are there any new ones that you like?

Im going to try icecream. I can cough up 20 or 30 US. What do you think about icecream?

If you have Windows 10 it’s built in.

If you have a compatible nVidia video card, you can use their free app to record your desktop/game/apps quite easily.

I personally recommend VideoSolo Screen Recorder because it helps record or in other words, download online video like YouTube video with high quality. What’s more, I record my own screen activity with it so that I can post and share on Facebook.

OBS, FoneLab, Frap are all free. I found this link helps: Top 15 free screen recorder on Windows and Mac

The newest update to Windows 10 now has even more screen/vid capture capabilities, including the Game Bar, which, if you tell it that Blender is a “game” (I think – needs testing) it will let you record your sessions. The clipboard also now has a history, so you can save multiple screen shots without emptying the clipboard each time you capture one.
