Smooth out blocky object

I am new to Blender and these forums. I tried searching for what I want to do, but I think I just cannot seem to use the right words to get results pertinent to me. This subforum was the best placement I could think of. My apologies.

I want to accomplish a similar smoothening to my object as shown in this before and after. I know these pictures depict the program Meshlab. I tried using Meshlab, but it resulted in this: before, after1, after2. It would be ok, except there are all these pointing out, and in, artifacts. I do not want to manually remove and patch all of them especially since I will be doing bigger models in the future. I was hoping I could use Blender to achieve better results. I will be 3D printing these models.

I appreciate any aid and advice. I have a .vtk and .stl version of the model. What would be the best way to share it?

Dropbox, Google Drive, One Drive, Mega etc

Remove any internal faces
Look at Smooth Modifieror Laplacian Smooth modifier

use the new ‘smooth’ modifier. it’s perfect for what you need.

Thanks, it worked great!
