My quick 20 minute entry. Missed deadline by about 4 minutes.

Absolutely no time this weekend to do anything. Good luck everyone.

Nice entries, everyone!

Have a great week!

Apologies Ryeath

Not a problem, was not meant to be a serious entry.

The idea I wanted to do was a gas station in the middle nowhere with a sign saying “next gas 250 miles” and another one saying “Station Closed - out of gas”. I got some rough blocking in done, but that was it.

At work I was reading news about the California water shortages and rationing and the idea of the Welcome to California sign popped in my head. I knew it would be close and I just missed it.

Good entries this week.

Great entries. Good work everyone.

And… The winner of Weekend Challenge 623 with 40% of the votes… is… Winterlaw!

cant wait for the next contest.

Thanks to everyone that voted

Congratulations Winterlaw! I’m glad your cow made it.
Looking forward to the next theme

On another note: I’ve been thinking about this a while back and it just came back to my mind. Would it be possible to always keep the latest entry or voting thread on top, so it is not pushed back by every new answers in ‘old’ threads? This would be great as (from time to time) there are things I’d like to ask/discuss, but then I don’t, because I don’t want to interfere with the current entries/voting…

Speaking of questions:
@Winterlaw: If you don’t mind me asking, how did you create the eroded skull surface? Is that simple bump mapping or is there actual geometry for that?

I think a few of us push a bump post i the latest comp gets moved down. Feel free to do it yourself.

Using bump-posts is a common way of keeping the current thread on top - but I think it is far from ideal. Actually we would already have 3 bump posts in the new entry thread. If the current entry/voting thread was behaving something like a sticky thread, we wouldn’t need all those bump posts.
