does curve-stroke method in sculpting do anything? (2.74)

I click on the ‘Draw Curve’ button and nothing happens when I try to draw anything in the viewport.

Hold Ctrl key and draw a curve with LMB. Then press the ‘Draw Curve’ button

great, thanks Richard! The curve editing seems rather clunky though, can’t seem to always select both handles of a control point for example. Not as sophisticated as editing a curve object anyway.
