Hair simulation - receeding hair!

Hi folks.

I’m trying out some hair animations, just for a giggle really, but I’m stumbling on something that I’m sure must have a simple answer.

I have my object with hair, looking all lovely. I’ve setup a very simple movement from point A to B, enabled the wind resistance and set off the run.

No matter what settings I mess about with I have the problem that when the object starts moving the hair recedes into the object. How can I make sure the hair keeps its root point?

check your modifier stack, and make sure you have your particle system below any armature/subsurface or any other deforming modifiers.
