light fall off problem ???

I try to rebuild the light effect of the recessed light in the right image.
It shines down along the wall sculpture and also hits the counter top at the bottom.

My first try was to insert a mesh light / area light into the recessed area but ti cannot reach down enough.
In my second try I added an additional spot light against the wall that works a little but the spot light does not
touch the counter top enough

So with a light fall off node added to the recessed mesh light I can extent the light distance however this comes with some other problems in the scene mainly added reflections on the front walls.

Isn’t the normal fall-off of lights based on physical accuracy?
