Should I venture Anime/Cartoon NPR or Photorealistic modeling?

Howdy Blenderartists. I’m quite new to the modeling scene and have been pondering this for a while now. I’m a big fan of Anime. I wanted to generally base my style around it. Before I begin to waste my time, is it worth it? I realize learning photorealistic will be more in depth than any 3D anime/cartoon ever will. Although my competition may be lower in cartoon, finding work will probably also be a hassle. I’d hate to sell myself short by spending so much time on the style when I can only find work in photorealistic Games/Movies/Shows etc. That being said, I could more than likely implement elements from photorealistic to NPR that I couldn’t do vice-versa.

Photo realism has to do with render method. It is less to do with modeling. In general, you use Blender internal render to do this. Here is good starter tutorial:

Thanks for the reply Ridix. I posted here because I figured I would get more responses. Do you recommend cel shading? Or is it not worth the time?
