Fluid obstacle volume/shell problem?

When I set a particular obstacle in my scene as a volume or a shell, I seem to have contradictory problems. As seen in the pictures, when it is set as a shell, the fluid floats on top of it, but it is around a few meters in the air around the mesh – highly undesired. When I set it to volume, the fluid goes right through it. Thoughts? Thanks much.



No blend file supplied so cannot do any testing for you.

One thing that you always do is apply the scale and rotation (Ctrl+A in object mode) of all the objects in the scene, something you haven’ done here, to get their scale back to 1
