cool trick for moving objects

this might be obvious, but i’ve never thought of it before… if you want to animate something, but without setting up bones etc, you can simply just add a plane, apply its location, and parrent the objects to it.

like now, i have a ship that i wanted to move to simulate fire, but i didnt want to actually move the ship itself, so i added a plane, parrented all the parts to the plane, and applied the location. now if i want to reset the ships location, i can simply alt G the plane.

yes, but i want the origin to be in the middle of the ship, and the ship is far away from the center.

You can also use empties, that way they wont show up in the final render.
